Ghana Baskets / aka: Bolga Baskets

This beautiful basket was hand woven in Ghana, West Africa, where they are used as a type of shopping or market basket to carry everything you can imagine. The material is a native long grass that is first harvested and cured, then dyed, and finally tightly woven into the basket you see above. The construction is excellent and very sturdy. The dyed goat skin wraps provide both stability and ease of use in addition to being aesthetically pleasing. Measurements are 8.5" tall to top of handle by 8" in diameter, and 5.5" on inside basket depth. The natural straw and bright green colors on this basket are especially striking - a great addition to any decor or a wonderful size for those special Easter baskets!
